ARTISTS, STOP POSTING TO DEVIANT ART

Learned today that DeviantArt is owned by Wix, an Israeli company listed under boycott by the BDS Palestinian human rights organization.

Under Wix, who acquired DeviantArt in 2017, DV has been pushing Israeli occupation propaganda and allowing Generative Ai to completely takeover the platform and be sold on it.

It’s clear that under Wix, DeviantArt DOES NOT CARE whatsoever about the art or the artists it was originally created to cater towards. It only cares for profit.

Even if you are not well-versed on the current politics surrounding the Israeli Occupation and the erasure of Palestine for some reason, everyone can agree that Wix has changed DeviantArt for the worse and the best case scenario is that they sell it to someone who actually cares for art, not profit.

I absolutely adore to death so much of the art there, but for now I will stop posting my art there and I suggest that other artists do the same. They DO NOT DESERVE YOUR ART.

Please transition towards using alternatives like Tumblr, Insta, Twitter, and Newgrounds. Newgrounds especially is the best alternative to DeviantArt. Please suggest other alternatives as well.

Question: All the kids and young people in Gaza witnessing their parents, siblings, cousins get murdered by Israel, their houses being pulverised, babies killed, dead bodies in their neighborhoods and ice cream trucks, father carrying his kids body p@rts in a plastic bag, aid denied, power gone...none of them will grow up normal and super chill. In addition to the trauma and other mental disorders, they will most likely want to (rightfully) avenge their families and friends' deaths, fight for their land that was bombed and have nothing but sheer hatred for Israel.

And then when they come together to fight for their land and families, and maybe give their resistance movement/group a name, will the western media automatically label them as terrorists from Day 1? Will their goals and objectives be termed as terrorism?

Because this will most certainly happen. Their childhood and youth is irreparably ruined in the most atrocious ways possible. You can't expect them to be super chill about the things they've seen.

But I'm sure Israel and the west will waste no time in labelling them as some barbaric terrorists who only want Israelis gone...

And they'll ask the future generations,"do you c0ndEmn this movement/group of people" before anything else...

I think the issue mainstream shows have with portraying lesbians and lesbian community in general is sort of that these shows have liberal outlooks and this sits uncomfortably with the fact that lesbian women specifically have historically, but also now, had a close proximity to feminism (something else that popular shows also have a hard time seriously portraying). sure there’s loads of young liberal lesbians but when it comes to lesbian organising and ‘lesbian culture’ it seems like a deliberate omission, like the writers don’t know how to approach lesbians politically. and depicting gay men and bi people is not the same, it doesn’t have that same connotation, so you can do that as fun and apolitical as you like. but when all your dykes are mostly feminine young women with shaved legs it’s going to feel inauthentic to real lesbian spaces in a noticeable and uncomfortable way. I guess that’s why these writers probably prefer gay men’s culture. an easier sell to the mainstream.
